NAM Bass Captures: Common Questions
What is included in each pack?
Every pack includes DI captures (amp only), full rig captures (amp and cabinet) and premium bass impulse responses. Use the full rig captures to play straight away, or combine the DI captures with the included IRs, or your own, to shape the cabinet sound yourself.
Where can I use NAM bass captures?
On your computer, use the free TONE3000 plugin (VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP, LV2 and standalone app) in any DAW.
On hardware, NAM runs natively on a growing range of devices, including HeadRush Prime, Core and Flex Prime, Darkglass Anagram, Blackstar Beam Mini and Beam Solo, Hotone Ampero II, Mooer GE1000 and GE300, and Valeton GP5 and GP50.
What is the difference between NAM A1 and NAM A2?
A2 is the new NAM standard, released in June 2026. It is more accurate than A1 and uses less CPU. To load A2 captures, update your NAM plugin or hardware firmware to a version that supports A2. If your device only supports A1, choose our A1 packs. More details on our NAM guitar page.
Which pack should I start with?
For modern, aggressive and growling metal tones, start with the Obsidian packs or Inferno Bass. For classic rock punch and huge low end, go with AMPG SVT Classic. Use the Tone and Genre filters above to narrow it down.
Do they work with 5 and 6 string basses and low tunings?
Yes. The captures work with any bass, any number of strings and any tuning. With a low B or drop tunings, you may want to tighten the lowest frequencies slightly with an EQ so the low end stays focused in a mix.
Can I use them live or with a bass cab?
Yes. Load them onto a NAM compatible pedal or modeler, or run the standalone app on a laptop. Once loaded, everything runs offline.
Going direct to a PA or front of house? Use the full rig captures, or the DI captures with the included IRs. Running into a real bass cab? Use the DI captures without an IR, so you are not doubling up on speaker simulation.
