Why use presets on the Helix?
The Helix gives you hundreds of amps, cabs and effects, and that freedom is also its biggest challenge. Building a great tone means getting the signal chain, gain staging, cab choice and EQ right, and then making sure it still works in a band mix. Our presets do that work for you. Load one, play, and tweak from a finished starting point instead of a blank grid.
Most of our Helix presets use snapshots, so you can switch between clean, crunch, rhythm and lead sounds inside one preset with no audio gap.

Which devices do these presets work on?
Our Helix presets work on Helix Floor, Helix LT, Helix Rack and Helix Native. Many packs also include dedicated HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL versions, and each product description lists exactly which devices are included.
Why are there separate HX Stomp versions?
The HX Stomp and Stomp XL run one signal path with up to 8 blocks and have less processing power than the full Helix. A preset built for the Helix Floor often won't fit, so we build and test separate Stomp versions that keep the core of the tone within those limits.
Do the presets work on Helix Stadium?

Which firmware do I need?
Each pack lists the firmware version it was built on. Your Helix needs that version or newer, since older firmware cannot load presets made on newer firmware. Updating is free through Line 6 HX Edit.
Do I need third party IRs?
No. Unless a product says otherwise, our presets use the built in Helix cabs, so they work straight away. Some packs include impulse responses, and these are included in the download. Looking for more cabs? Browse our impulse responses.
How do I install the presets?
Connect your Helix to your computer, open HX Edit, and drag the .hlx files into the preset list. If a pack includes IRs, import them into the same IR slots listed in the included instructions, since the Helix loads IRs by slot number.
Will the presets work live with a band?
Yes. Every preset is tested at volume and through a PA, not just on headphones. Rhythm and lead levels are balanced so you can switch snapshots without reaching for the volume knob.
Will they sound the same through my headphones and my speakers?
Every preset is checked on several setups to sound consistent. Different rooms and speakers always vary a little, so a small adjustment to the global EQ or output level may be all you need.
