HeadRush Amp Clones: Common Questions
Which HeadRush units do these work on?
HeadRush Prime, HeadRush Core and HeadRush Flex Prime. These are the HeadRush units that support amp clones.
Older units such as the HeadRush Pedalboard, Gigboard, MX5 and the original Flex cannot load amp clones, so these packs will not work on them.
How do I import amp clones and rigs?
- Connect your HeadRush to your computer with USB and select USB Transfer from the main menu.
- The HeadRush appears on your computer as a drive.
- Copy the amp clones into the Amp Clones > User folder, the rigs into the Rigs folder, and any IRs into the Impulse Responses > User folder.
- Eject the drive, disconnect the cable and press Sync on the board.
To load a clone into your own rig, tap an empty block and choose Amp Clone, then Load Clone, then the User folder.
What is an amp clone?
An amp clone is a HeadRush capture of a real amplifier. Unlike a simple snapshot, a clone loads as an editable amp block, so you can shape gain and EQ inside your rig just like a regular amp model.
Do I need to tweak the tones before playing?
No. The rigs are mix ready out of the box, so you can play right away. Adjust gain, EQ and output level to suit your guitar and pickups, and add your own effects to taste.
Can I use them with a guitar amp or cab?
The rigs are built for full range playback: FRFR speakers, studio monitors, headphones or direct to a PA. When running into a guitar amp or real cab, remove the cab or IR block from the rig so you are not doubling up on speaker simulation.
Can HeadRush also load NAM captures?
Yes. HeadRush Prime, Core and Flex Prime also support Neural Amp Modeler captures, so you can expand your rig with our NAM guitar captures. Need more cabs? Browse our impulse responses.
Which firmware do I need?
We recommend updating your HeadRush to the latest firmware before importing. You can update over WiFi directly from the board.
