NAM Profiles – FAQ

What is a NAM profile?

A NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) profile is a highly accurate digital model of a real-world guitar or bass amp, preamp, or pedal. It captures the unique sound and feel of your gear and makes it available as a plugin or on supported hardware.

Where can I use NAM profiles?

NAM profiles can be used on a wide range of platforms, including:

  • Desktop software: Standalone app or plugin (VST3/AU/LV2) on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

  • DAWs: Any DAW that supports VST3 or AU, such as Logic Pro, Reaper, Cubase, Pro Tools, Studio One, Ableton Live, and more.

  • Linux-based pedalboards: MOD Duo, DuoX, and Dwarf (via LV2 plugin).

  • Hardware devices with native NAM support (see below).

Which hardware devices support NAM profiles natively?

The following hardware devices officially support NAM profiles:
Hotone Ampero Series: Ampero II, II Stage, and II Stomp
Valeton GP-200 and GP-5
Sonicake Matribox II
Darkglass Anagram pedal
Dimehead NAM Player pedal
MOD Duo, DuoX, and Dwarf (Linux-based, via LV2 plugin)

These devices let you load NAM profiles directly, no computer required.

Do Kemper, Helix, Fractal, or Headrush support NAM?

No. Currently, Kemper Profiler, Line6 Helix/HX, Fractal Axe-Fx/FM, and Headrush devices do not support NAM profiles.

Can I use NAM profiles live?

Yes! You can use them live by running the standalone app on a laptop, or by loading them onto a supported hardware device such as Hotone Ampero II, Valeton GP-200, Sonicake Matribox II, Darkglass Anagram, or Dimehead NAM Player.

Do I need an internet connection to use NAM profiles?

No. Once you’ve loaded the profiles onto your device or computer, they can be used entirely offline.
